2018 workshifts are open!  All GWCSA members are required to help with produce distribution by signing up for one or more work shifts.  You do not have to sign up for a shift on the same day as your pick-up.

Your membership is not final until you sign up for a work shift. We are using SignUp to organize work shifts this season. It's easy! You will NOT need to register an account or keep a password on SignUp. You can return to this link any time to see your selected shift(s).  Please choose your shifts carefully as they can't be changed once the season begins!  Missed shifts will result in a forfeited pickup, as we depend on our members to help run our completely volunteer CSA.

Here's how it works in 3 easy steps:

  1. Go to SignUp by clicking on the button above or going to this link: http://signup.com/go/kRTJXoR
  2. Use the same primary email you used to register for the CSA, so we know you've signed up for shifts.
  3. Review the options listed and choose the shifts you like. Either a Wednesday distribution shift, or a Saturday distribution shift or THREE Saturday soup kitchen driver shifts.  Choose as many as you like, but all members are required to work at least one!
  • Please feel free to work more shifts!  Especially, if you have multiple house-mates enjoying your share. We are 100% volunteer run and appreciate your helping hands.

Saturday Work Shifts

There are two options for Saturday work shifts.

Saturday Distribution Shifts

  • Where: GWCSA Stand, next to the dog run in McCarren Park
  • When: 8:45 am – 12:15pm
  • What: Help unload produce from the Garden of Eve truck before distribution starts. Throughout the distribution, man the produce bins and check members off lists. At the end of distribution, help load left over produce into the car that will take it to the soup kitchen.
  • How many times? One

Saturday Soup Kitchen Driver (must have car)

  • Where: GWCSA Stand, next to the dog run in McCarren Park
  • When: 12 – 12:15pm
  • What: You will arrive at the McCarren Park distribution at noon where your vehicle will be loaded with crates of leftover produce for donation. You will drive this produce to the soup kitchen at the Greenpoint Church (136 Milton Street, Greenpoint) where it will be unloaded.  We especially love help on this shift, as there are many weeks when not all members come to collect their shares, and it is extremely important to us that this food not go to waste!  As a member of the Greenpoint/Williamsburg community we are so proud to partner with the Greenpoint Reformed Church and their hunger program, and you will be an integral part of this vital effort to help feed our neighbors.
  • How many times? Three (on different Saturdays)

Wednesday Work Shifts

There is only one option for Wednesday work shifts - distribution is now at the soup kitchen church, so we no longer need drivers on Wednesday.

Wednesday Distribution Shifts

  • Where: NEW LOCATION: Greenpoint Church  (136 Milton Street, Greenpoint)
  • When: 6:00 pm – 8:15 pm
  • What: Get ready for distribution by organizing the produce. Once all the vegetables, fruits, eggs and flowers have been and set out, work shift members will then help the distribution coordinator by checking members off lists or manning the produce bins. Then finish up distribution by cleaning up and removing the empty crates to the side yard.
  • How many times? One
