New member orientations for 2013 season!

It’s that time of year again! The spring crops are still deep in their winter slumber, but the GWCSA is already busy preparing for a bountiful 2013 season! Although we won’t see our first shares until June, sign-ups start in March in order to give our farmers a good financial head start on all the investments that they’re making in the upcoming season.

We will be conducting mandatory new member orientations throughout March and April. If you have not been a member of the GWCSA before (even if you’ve had the winter share), you are REQUIRED to attend one orientation. At your orientation you’ll learn all the ins and outs of how the GWCSA works, you’ll get a chance to ask questions, and then we’ll send you off with the link to our online sign up page and all the instructions you’ll need to buy your 2013 share. We encourage you to learn AS MUCH as possible about how the GWCSA works BEFORE you attend an orientation. The more you know ahead of time, the easier and quicker signing up will be. Before the orientation, please read about how our shares work, our work shift requirement, and our FAQs.

Reading up on all the ins and outs will help you consider your choices:

  • Whether you want to pick up on Saturday or Wednesday.
  • What shares (vegetable, fruit, eggs, flowers, plant) you’d like.
  • Whether you want to pick up every week (weekly) or every other week (biweekly).

All orientations will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Messiah, 129 Russell St.:

  • Thursday, May 23th at 7:00pm
  • Wednesday, May 29th at 7:00pm

Each orientation lasts 30 minutes, and you only need to attend one orientation. You do not need to RSVP. We’ll see you there!

About Us

The Greenpoint-Williamsburg CSA is a volunteer-run community supported agriculture organization that is currently partnered with the Garden of Eve Organic Farm in Riverhead, Long Island. By purchasing shares, our members support the farm when they need it most – before the start of the growing season – and receive fresh, organic produce throughout the summer and fall. We offer weekly and biweekly shares of vegetables (organic), fruit (local, low-spray), eggs (free range), and flowers (organic) at two pickup locations.

The mission of the Greenpoint-Williamsburg CSA is to establish and maintain connections between local residents and local farms and producers, and to foster more sustainable ways of eating and living.
